Assitant Vice President, Strategic Initiatives
Rebecca Gentry serves as Assistant Vice President, Strategic Initiatives, overseeing campaign strategy for the University’s $1 Billion plus “Here, We Go” Campaign, as well as special projects and strategic planning, volunteer leadership programs, and the University’s donor engagement program and team, which includes development communications, donor relations and recognition, gift impact and compliance, and donor events. She also manages fundraising and external engagement activity for the Systemwide Public Art Program.
She joined the University of Houston in 2013 and was selected to participate in President Renu Khator’s inaugural cohort of leaders for the ProPel Leadership Program in 2019. Throughout her career, she has held executive advancement leadership positions in museums (Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art + Design), historic homes (George Washington’s Historic Mount Vernon), non-profit organizations and foundations (National YoungArts Foundation) in Washington, DC, Atlanta and Miami.
Rebecca received her bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University. She is active on local, regional and national boards for her alma mater and variety of charitable organizations, as well as philanthropic industry committees.
Coming from a non-profit and arts background, Gabriella is well-versed in arts fundraising and donor stewardship. A native Houstonian, she is proud of the rich culture Houston has to offer. She hopes to bring her passion for the arts and a dedication to serving others to the University of Houston in hopes of engaging donors, alumni and the community. Gabriella graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 2016 with a Masters in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Art History and Literature, and is also an alumnus of the University of Houston.
