A Generous Gift for Study Abroad from Art Chavez (B.Arch.’90) and Page Southerland Page

The University of Houston (UH) Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design received an endowment in the amount of $50,000 from the Page Southerland Page Foundation, in honor of their Senior Principal. The Arturo Chavez – Page Southerland Page Foundation International Studies in Architecture Scholarship Endowment will go toward funding study abroad scholarships for Hines College students. “It is so gratifying when alumni reach the level of success that Art Chavez has and are able to enrich students’ experiences in perpetuity,” said dean of the Hines College, Patricia Oliver.
Arturo (Art) Chavez. AIA, LEED AP, is the Senior Principal architect at the internationally recognized Page Southerland Page architecture and engineering firm in Houston. Page Southerland Page also has offices in Austin, Dallas, Denver, Dubai, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
Chavez and his firm have contributed to the design concepts behind the Texas Medical Center West, Discovery Green and TDECU Stadium at the University of Houston. A proud graduate, Chavez has returned to his alma mater – the Hines College – to serve as an adjunct professor. He was also inducted into the Architecture Alumni Hall of Fame.
Chavez’s love of travel has greatly contributed to the development of his diverse firm; one that is inclusive of all cultures. Chavez and Page Southerland Page wished to foster an appreciation for travel and study abroad among students.
