Tofunmi Jewesimi

Oluwatofunmi “Tofunmi” Jewesimi is a senior studying Biotechnology in the Technology Division of the Cullen College of Engineering at the University of Houston, where she is also a student in the Honors College pursuing a minor in Medicine and Society. Born in Nigeria and raised in Katy, Texas, she chose UH for its proximity to the Texas Medical Center, its diverse community, and its reputation as a Tier One institution.

On campus, She is in her second year as Chair of UH Ambassadors, representing the student body to alumni, donors, and local leaders, and fostering a strong sense of connection to the university community. She also serves as Outreach Coordinator for Honors in Community Health and helps advance the Responsive Resourcing project to address social determinants of health in Houston’s diverse communities in tandem with the Community Health Worker Initiative. In addition, she mentors first-year students through the Engineering Leadership, Excellence, and Professionalism (LEAP) Program and conducts computational research in Dr. Chitrala’s lab, where she studies drug gene interactions in triple negative breast cancer. She has received the Provost’s Undergraduate Research Scholarship (PURS) for her work on reproductive healthcare access in Texas prison facilities, as well as the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Scholarship for her STEM excellence.

On the pre-med track, Jewsimi aspires to a career in medicine, women’s health, and community health. As a 2025–2026 Albert Schweitzer Fellow, she is developing and leading a year-long health empowerment program for formerly incarcerated women at Angela House, building on her PURS-funded research.

Outside of her academic and professional work, she enjoys attending live jazz shows, watching films, and making pizza on Tuesday nights with her friends.

Manali Catherine Ghurye

Manali Ghurye is a junior in the Honors College at the University of Houston (UH), majoring in Mechanical Engineering and minoring in Mathematics. She hails from Pearland, Texas and from two generations of UH Cougars, with her father and older sister having graduated from UH. She chose to attend UH because of her wonderful memories of exploring campus with her family in addition to her family’s alumni pride. To support her university, Ghurye currently serves as Vice Chair of the UH Ambassadors, managing the engagement records of nearly 40 members, upholding Ambassador policies, and helping forge connections between UH students, alumni, donors, and the Houston community.

She is very active within the Cullen College of Engineering as an Engineering Recruitment Ambassador, frequently speaking to incoming students about UH’s robust engineering curriculum and extracurricular opportunities. She also works as a remote Teaching Assistant for introductory engineering courses with foreign students in the Dalian Maritime University-UH Institute. For her Houston community, however, Ghurye volunteers with the Honors Community Advocacy and Responsive Engagement program to empower refugee farmers and support their growing sustainable businesses with Plant It Forward Farms.

Beyond her undergraduate degree, she hopes to pursue biomedical research in her graduate studies. After supporting a loved one through the effects of invasive surgeries, she grew passionate about biomedical research to improve existing physical rehabilitation technology and prosthetics to help patients regain their independence. Following her passion, she participated in UH’s Houston Early Research Experience program where she learned the fundamentals of research and was later accepted into the University of Maine’s Sensor Science and Engineering summer research program to develop more accessible gait analysis technology. With her recent admission into the National Academy of Engineering Grand Challenges Scholars Program, Manali hopes to continue to broaden her understanding of modern medicine.

During her time at UH, she has received many scholarships and accolades for her academic and extracurricular performance, including the Academic Excellence Scholarship, Provost’s Service-Learning Scholarship, UH Foundation Excellence Scholarship, Bertha “Bo” Johnston Lohec Engineering Endowed Scholarship, and membership in the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.

Ella Eger

Ella Eger is a senior in the Honors College at the University of Houston, pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering with a minor in Energy and Sustainability. She grew up in League City, Texas and chose UH for its proximity to home, her family’s legacy, and the many opportunities provided through the Cullen Honors Program. Growing up along the Texas coast fostered her deep interest in understanding and addressing ecological and climate-related impacts on coastal environments.

On campus, Eger serves as the Operations Chair for the UH Ambassadors, overseeing communications and event management for a 40-member cohort while representing the student body to alumni, donors, and university leadership. She also is a tutor for the Scholars Enrichment Program and mentors first-year students in the Engineering Leadership, Excellence, and Professionalism (LEAP) Program. She is involved in the Cullen College through the National Academy of Engineering Grand Challenge Scholars Program, where her work emphasizes sustainability, resilience, and the “joy of living” through multidisciplinary approaches to climate challenges. As part of the program, she studied abroad in the Netherlands, examining storm surge protection, coastal resilience, and urban flood management.

Her academic and professional experiences reflect her passion for climate adaptation and biodiversity preservation. In Dr. Kerri Crawford’s Plant Community Ecology Lab, she researches coastal ecosystems and supports nature-based solutions for dune resilience along the Gulf Coast. She has also gained practical experience through internships with IDS Engineering Group and Kiewit subsidiary Weeks Marine, Inc., working in public works, flood control, and dredging operations along the Mississippi River.

Her achievements have been recognized with multiple scholarships and awards, including the Robert & Hazel Montgomery Civil Engineering Scholarship, the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Scholarship, and the John Lienhard Engines of our Ingenuity Scholarship.

Ida Hailu

Ida Hailu is a senior in the Honors College at the University of Houston, pursuing a double major in Finance and Management Information Systems. She was inducted as a UH Ambassador in Spring 2023, an experience that has allowed her to grow both socially and professionally while deepening her appreciation for the University.

Throughout her time at UH, Hailu has served in several leadership capacities. She was Director of External Relations and later President of the Bauer Honors Student Advisory Board, where she worked to strengthen engagement within the Bauer Honors community. She also contributed to the planning of the Impact Case Competition and was a member of the team that earned first place in the inaugural competition. Her team’s proposal created a 1.5-year plan to streamline processes and expand accessibility at the Houston Food Bank.

Her academic achievements have been recognized with the Academic Excellence Scholarship and the Sharon K. Johnson Scholarship. She currently serves as the Ambassador Fellow in the Division of Advancement and Alumni, where she manages administrative responsibilities and coordinates VIP campus tours for the UH Ambassador Program.

Beyond academics, Hailu enjoys spending time with loved ones, exploring Houston’s diverse restaurants and coffee shops, and volunteering at her church. Upon graduation, she will join Ernst & Young–Parthenon as a Business Valuation Associate in Houston, Texas. She credits her experiences at the University of Houston for shaping her passion for leadership, service, and the city that has given so much to her.

Alex Lammayot

Alexander Lammayot is an undergraduate senior pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, and Management Information Systems at the C.T. Bauer College of Business, University of Houston.

At Bauer, he has earned recognition as a Jesse H. Jones Business Leadership Scholar and Bauer Ambassador of the Year. He currently serves as the Director of Membership Relations for Bauer Ambassadors and as the Legacy Project Group Lead for UH Ambassadors. In the past, Lammayot has served as a Peer Leader for the Emerging Leaders Academic Success Program and as Vice President of Corporate Relations for Beta Alpha Psi – Gamma Delta Chapter.

Off campus, Lammayot has been involved with various professional organizations and businesses. He previously served as a Student Ambassador for the Ion Houston, a leading innovation hub in Houston’s Midtown that connects entrepreneurs, startups, corporations, and academic partners to foster collaboration and community impact. Additionally, he was a Student Ambassador for the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), helping promote the value of the accounting profession. He also served as an Ignite Fellow with Teach For America, supporting students and educational equity initiatives.

Professionally, Lammayot has had the opportunity to intern and work across diverse companies and industries. Most recently, he interned at Capital One in Richmond, Virginia, on the Customer Services & Strategy team. In addition, he has held internships with Atmosfy and Vine Advisors.

Outside school and work, he is a sought-after cellist who performs with several symphonies, including the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra, Mid-Texas Symphony, Lake Charles Symphony, and Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra. He is equally passionate about teaching and runs a private cello studio in the Greater Houston Area. As a chamber musician, he is the cellist of Trio Allora, a Houston-based piano trio.

Beyond his academic, professional, and musical endeavors, Lammayot is passionate about helping others and giving back to the community. In his free time, he mentors fellow students at Bauer and volunteers with organizations such as the Houston Food Bank and The Woodlands Children’s Museum. He also enjoys playing tennis and other racquet-based sports.

Rebecca Ji

Rebecca Ji (‘27) is a Finance and Management Information Systems major in the Honors College and serves as Recruitment Lead for the UH Ambassadors. She is involved on campus through Chi Omega Sorority and the Banking Scholars Club. Rebecca is a recipient of the Academic Excellence Scholarship and the Farnsworth Scholarship. Notably, she is the first member of a UH Panhellenic Council sorority to serve in the ambassador program.

Marc Girgis

Marc Girgis is a junior double majoring in Finance and Marketing at the University of Houston, where he is also enrolled in the Program for Excellence in Selling as well as being a member of The Honors College.

Girgis was born on Long Island, New York, and raised in Cypress, Texas. He chose UH for its strong business programs, its proximity to home, and its diverse, driven student body. Girgis is an aspiring finance professional and will be joining the Asset & Wealth Management Division at Goldman Sachs as an intern in Summer 2026.

On campus, Girgis is proud to serve as a UH Ambassador and the Marketing Project Group Lead for the program. In this role Girgis is committed to spreading the organization's brand and legacy, making it a voice for all students in a landmark centennial year. Being an ambassador, for him, is embodying the highest degree of Cougar pride, professionalism, and purpose. Girgis has also served as Vice President of Finance and Operations for Scholars of Finance and is a member of the Finance Association and Orthodox Christian Campus Ministries, where he deepens his Coptic faith and commitment to service.

Outside of the classroom, Girgis is an avid content creator with over 300,000 followers and 275 million views across platforms. His work has generated over $150,000 in sales for brands he has collaborated with. He is also a proud recipient of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Area and Achievement Scholarship and the Cypress-Fairbanks Educational Foundation Scholarship.

In his free time, Girgis enjoys working out, playing basketball, and listening to music. A fun fact: he received YouTube's Silver Creator Award for 100,000 subscribers and once created a video from conception to completion in class that received 750,000 views in eight hours.

Kushaagra Sood

Kushaagra Sood is a junior studying Accounting and Finance in the Bauer Honors program at the University of Houston. He is an international student from Delhi, India and is passionate about finance, philanthropy, and community. He currently serves as the Member Engagement Chair for the University of Houston Ambassadors, working with the leadership team to maintain the club’s culture of trust, excellence, and compassion. He also serves as a portfolio manager for the Bayou Capital Group Undergraduate Investment Fund, teaching analysts how to pitch stocks while contributing to a fund valued at approximately $20,000. On campus, Sood serves as a resident advisor for The Quads, working to maintain residence safety and satisfaction and organizing socials and events to build a sense of community. Within the Business Honors Program, Sood works as a Bauer Honors Mentor and Student Program Coordinator; he mentors 8 freshmen to maintain good academic standing with the honors college and encourages them to excel in extracurriculars, alongside working at the front desk to assist prospective and current students.

His time with the Ambassadors has been instrumental in shaping his desire to give back to the community, and the organization has given him the tools and experience to do so. Through working events and board meetings, Sood has come to love the cohort around him and has found people who share his passion for community. He hopes to utilize his various experiences to best serve the organization as Member Engagement Chair through maintaining the club’s culture and value to the University. He hopes to extend to every member, returning or new, the same warmth and guidance he received when he joined the organization. Sood is excited to carry these experiences with him beyond graduation, and believes his time with the Ambassadors will impact his professional and personal life for the better.

Summer Folwell

Summer Folwell is a dedicated student at the Valenti School of Communication at the University of Houston, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Communications. Her decision to join the Cougar family was deeply inspired by her mother, a proud UH alumna, and reflects her strong connection to Houston. Born and raised in the city, Folwell feels a profound connection with both her university and community. As a UH Ambassador, she is passionate about helping students feel welcomed and engaged on campus, fostering the same sense of pride and belonging she has developed.

This past summer, Folwell interned with Paramount on the US Distribution Marketing and CBS Affiliate Relations teams while serving as the Helen Karas Memorial Fellow through the International Radio and Television Society Foundation. In this role, she supported national campaigns, strengthened distributor partnerships, and gained firsthand Insight into the entertainment industry. Her past experiences include internships with Forthea and Modern Luxury Houston Magazine, where she built skills in digital marketing, event planning, and communications. She has also led market research projects for Kellanova’s Pringles and Pop-Tarts, providing valuable insights into Gen Z consumer behavior. Looking ahead, she aspires to establish her own advertising agency, combining creativity and strategy to make a lasting impact in the industry. Outside of her academic and professional pursuits, Folwell is actively involved in the UH chapter of the American Advertising Federation, enjoys exploring museums to learn about history, reading, and playing volleyball and pickleball with friends. Her recent study abroad experience in Europe enriched her love for travel and broadened her global perspectives. Summer is also deeply engaged in her church community, which provides her with a fulfilling sense of service and connection. Through her role as an Ambassador, she is eager to showcase the vibrant and dynamic qualities of the University of Houston, hoping to inspire others to discover and appreciate the University’s unique community and opportunities.

Sena Tuna

Sena Tuna is a junior in the Bauer Honors Program at the University of Houston, double majoring in Finance and Marketing with a concentration in Real Estate. Born and raised in Houston, she chose UH because of its diversity, the close-knit community, and the unique programs that provide opportunities for both personal and professional growth.

She is part of the Program for Excellence in Selling at UH, the nation’s top-ranked sales program. This semester she has taken on a new role as a Key Account Manager where she helps manage high level corporate partnerships with the program while continuing to challenge herself. Through PES, she has gained hands-on experience in professional selling, relationship building, and personal branding.

She is also a Ferguson Fellow and a member of the Stanford Alexander Center for Real Estate, where she continues to grow her knowledge and network in commercial real estate. Outside of school, she works closely with nonprofits in the Middle East, combining her dedication to service with her drive to create impact. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, discovering new places, and exploring different culture. She is always seeking opportunities to grow and push herself out of her comfort zone!

Adam Elbanna

Adam Elbanna is a senior studying accounting at the University of Houston C. T. Bauer College of Business. He is also a student in the Honors College and works at his family fashion store, Valnti. Elbanna grew up all around Houston, Texas, but has recently spent several years in Katy. He currently works as a sales manager at Valnti, where he set up a point of sales and marketing system that helped bring hundreds of people from surrounding states to shop in Houston. Elbanna also serves as the President for the TXCPA Houston Student Board, connecting students and professionals to create a community of support for accountants seeking their CPA in Houston. In his spare time, Elbanna performs music around Houston, volunteers at Lebanese community gatherings and cheers on the Houston Rockets.

Elbanna chose UH because of its nationally ranked Bauer College, diverse culture and impact on the community he grew up in. Being an Advancement Ambassador, manager and president aligns with Elbanna’s goal to give back to the Houston community that has made him who he is today. In these roles, he strives to unify UH’s student body and construct opportunities for students throughout Houston.

Alex Inzar

Alex Inzar is a junior studying global hospitality leadership with an emphasis in project management and data analytics in the Conrad N. Hilton College at the University of Houston. A native of Fort Worth, Texas, home of the stockyards and state fair.

For the past two years she has been heavily involved in the Orientation Team at the University and continues to pursue her role within New Student Programs. Her experience also includes an internship through the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. She was also a member of an organization titled United Real Estate Scholars in the C. T. Bauer College of Business.

Outside of her academic pursuits and on-campus involvement Inzar enjoys reading, working out in the Campus Recreational Center, trying new foods in the Houston area and hosting game night with her peers. In her time at the University she has found community, seized opportunities, fostered connections, and impacted lives. She hopes to continue this legacy of success in her last two years of university.

Andrew Canada

Andrew Canada is a mechanical engineering sophomore pursuing a second degree in physics and minor in mathematics. Canada comes from Crosby, Texas where he is involved in the community through a scholarship foundation he and other alumni founded.

He came to UH because of the opportunity to craft his education through the honors college. Through the honors college, he plans to write a senior honors thesis in the discipline of physics. After his bachelors, he will attend the Aerospace Engineering graduate program at UH before getting his PhD in upper-level math or science to prepare himself for one of his long-term goals of becoming a professor.

Canada is involved on campus through the Honors Ambassadors, AIAA Space City Rocketry team, and Terry Scholars. He also works as an academic tutor for a local community college.

A few awards he has received include the Eagle Scout Award, Terry Foundation Full-ride Scholarship, Houston Early Research Experience, and Texas Music Scholar Award.

Outside of school, Canada loves to play the trombone, play basketball and soccer, and spend time with friends and family. Last year, he enjoyed bringing people together for a series of watch parties as UH men's basketball advanced to the finals. Finally, he is currently involved in creating opportunities to support STEM in his hometown school district.

Angela Hernandez

Angela Hernandez (‘27) is a Photography and Digital Media major and the first Arts student to serve in the UH Ambassadors. She is engaged on campus as an Admissions Ambassador, a member of the Office of Admissions Marketing team, a OneGoal Peer Mentor, and a sister of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority. Angela is also a recipient of the Academic Excellence Scholarship, the Aldine Education Foundation Scholarship, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship.

Azaniah Parker-Bethany

Azaniah Parker-Bethany is a dedicated senior at the University of Houston, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Health and graduating in Spring 2026. With strong interests in public health, health policy, and bioinformatics, she is passionate about exploring the intersection of healthcare, technology, and global systems to create more equitable health outcomes.

Drawn to UH for its proximity to the Texas Medical Center – the largest medical complex in the world – she was inspired by Houston’s reputation as a hub of medical innovation and diversity. Staying close to her family while engaging with UH’s inclusive community has been an important part of her journey.

She currently serves as President of the Health Students Association, where she leads initiatives to strengthen professional development, community outreach, and organizational growth. She is also the Membership Chair for Faces of African Muslims, and a pinned member of Collegiate 100, reflecting her commitment to service, leadership, and advocacy.

Beyond campus leadership, she represents UH as a UH Ambassador, helping connect students, alumni, and the broader community through engagement and outreach. She also spends her summers at Camp Founder Girls, where she mentors and supports campers, fostering an environment of curiosity, inclusivity, and growth. These experiences highlight her ability to lead in both professional and community settings.

Looking ahead, she plans to pursue graduate studies in public or global health, health policy, or biomedical informatics, with the long-term goal of advancing research and policy with organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or the World Health Organization (WHO). She is eager to bridge health research, data, and policy to address pressing public health challenges worldwide.

Dhwani Mulani

Dhwani Mulani (‘26) is a Communication Sciences and Disorders major and an active member of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association and the Challenger Program. She is a recipient of the Academic Excellence Scholarship and The Assistance League Scholarship. A proud Houston native, Dhwani chose to attend the University of Houston for its strong reputation among local educators and academic leaders.

Eden Bilbo

Eden Bilbo is a junior majoring in teaching and learning at the University of Houston College of Education, with a minor in journalism communications. She grew up in Houston, Texas, and chose UH for its education program and diversity.

Bilbo maintains an active presence on campus through her roles at the Children's Learning Center as a teacher assistant and as the Lead Commuter Ambassador for the Dean of Students Office. In these roles, she supports early childhood education and enhances the commuter student experience by planning and executing events. Additionally, she is a member of the marketing and recruitment project group for UH Ambassadors, where she collaborates on strategic initiatives to increase online engagement and recruit new members.

Outside of her academic pursuits, Bilbo enjoys traveling, watching movies, and trying new things. The University of Houston has provided her with many opportunities to grow professionally and academically, something she will always be grateful for. Following graduation, Bilbo intends to further her academic journey, including the possibility of pursuing a law degree. She is deeply committed to expanding her knowledge and exploring legal education as a way to make a meaningful impact in her community.

Fatima De La Rosa

Fatima De La Rosa, a first-generation scholar, is entering her senior year at the University of Houston, double majoring in communication sciences and disorders and sociology. As a Houston native, she chose UH inspired by the encouragement and support of mentors who motivated her to excel. At the University of Houston, De La Rosa actively contributes to the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences as a CLASS Ambassador, she serves as the vice president for the University chapter of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA), and was inducted in the Alpha Alpha Alpha Honor Society. Her role with the Advancement Ambassadors reflects her dedication to community service, focusing on promoting welfare and kindness to create a meaningful impact.

Outside of her academic and volunteer work, De La Rosa’s passion for music has driven her to explore the intersection of music and speech therapy, particularly how musical techniques can be used to enhance speech development and support communication progress. She has also developed a strong interest in apraxia of speech, inspired by her desire to support individuals with motor speech disorders through evidence-based and creative interventions. Currently in the process of applying to graduate programs, De La Rosa plans to complete her bachelor’s degree and continue her studies at the University of Houston to pursue a master’s degree and become a certified bilingual speech pathologist. Recognizing the need for bilingual therapists, she is committed to serving underrepresented communities and cultures by combining her passion for research, advocacy, and clinical care.

Hannah John

Hannah John is a dedicated Junior at the University of Houston, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Health with a minor in Biology while on a pre-med track. Originally from Sugar Land, Texas, she chose the University of Houston for its opportunities in the Texas Medical Center and its vibrant community. The University of Houston is to be her home!

She is driven by her goal of creating a meaningful legacy by understanding the world around her. She is currently working on research projects with the Sleep and Anxiety Center of Houston to understand the connections between sleep, emotions, and behaviors across the life span. A study she has been working on examines the moderating effect of bedtime routine on the relationship between child anxiety/ depressive symptoms among children adopted from foster care.

Outside of academics, she enjoys being involved in mission trips, where she has witnessed the challenges of delivering healthcare in underserved communities. These experiences have inspired a deep understanding of global awareness in her. She is committed to serving these communities and having an impact on those around her.

Additionally, as an Ambassador for the University of Houston for the 25-’26 academic year, she cannot wait to share her Cougar pride with other students, alumni, potential donors, and leaders in the community. She is honored to represent and serve the student body at the University of Houston!

Jennifer Leon

Jennifer Leon is a sophomore at the University of Houston expecting to graduate in 2027. Her academic journey is centered on the field of Civil Engineering within the Cullen College of Engineering. She also takes great pride in being a student in the Honors College, where she stands among the distinguished 20% of female engineers. Beyond her academic pursuits, Jennifer actively engages with her university community through her involvement in the Advancement Ambassadors organization

Serving as a link between UH donors, alumni, and fellow students, she embodies a commitment to fostering meaningful connections and enhancing the collegiate experience for all. Jennifer's dedication to service extends beyond campus borders. During summer and winter breaks, she devotes her time to Reliable Home Care in Alvin, where she assists elderly and disabled individuals in accessing essential care services. Despite her office-based responsibilities, she finds fulfillment in making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need, which enriches her experiences with every interaction.

In her spare time, she enjoys running, baking, and spending time with her family. As a newcomer to the UH Cougar Family, Jennifer approaches each day with an open mind and a willingness to immerse herself in new experiences. Eager to expand her horizons, she is grateful to embody the university's ethos of fostering both personal and academic growth within a supportive community.

Kenya Cardenas

Kenya Cardenas (‘26) is a Finance and Marketing major in the Honors College. She is actively involved with the Bauer Honors Student Advisory Board and is a recipient of the Academic Excellence Scholarship. Kenya is trilingual, fluent in English, Spanish, and Mandarin, which enhances her ability to connect across cultures and communities.

Lana Shannak

Lana Shannak is a sophomore double majoring in American Sign Language Interpreting and Translation and Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. She is also a student in the Honor’s college and a Traditional Terry Scholar. Shannak is born and raised in Houston but has primarily spent most of her life in Katy, Texas. Shannak has chosen the University of Houston due to its renowned American Sign Language Interpreting program, its proximity to the Texas Medical Center, as well as its diverse student population.

Shannak’s passion resides in her deep connection with communication and accessibility for all. Her passion is rooted in her admiration of American Sign Language, the Houston Deaf community, Speech Language therapy, and working with children. She has been responsible for facilitating language and communication at various camps and events for Deaf and Special Needs children. Shannak is currently a member of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association and the American Sign Language Society at UH.

In her free time, Shannak enjoys spending time with family, hiking, and reading. After graduation, Shannak hopes to become a medical Speech Language Pathologist and an American Sign Language interpreter.

Meghana Nanduri

Meghana Nanduri is currently a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Communications at the Jack J. Valenti School of Communication with a Minor in Entrepreneurship from the C.T. Bauer College of Business. With a strong foundation in business communication, she have been involved in academic projects like the BCIS 1305 Capstone IT Services Project, where she successfully identified user challenges with AccessUH and presented innovative solutions to developers. Her academic journey has sharpened their analytical and communication skills, preparing her for a career in marketing and corporate communications within any field.

Beyond academics, Nanduri is actively involved in various leadership and professional development programs. As UH Ambassador at the University of Houston, she has been able to foster relationships with alumni and key donors, representing the student body in meaningful ways. She is currently an intern at Hollaway E&C, where she supports client engagement, manages projects, and analyzes data to drive effective communication and enhance organizational efficiency in environmental initiatives.

Nanduri is also a Fellow in IBM Accelerate’s Marketing and Corporate Communications Track, where she had the ability to hone data-driven strategies to cater to broader audiences. Additionally, their leadership extends to serving as the Director of Marketing for the National Marrow Donor Program at the University of Houston, showcasing their ability to lead teams and execute high-impact initiatives. Nanduri is excited to continue to pursue her education at the University of Houston while maintaining and creating meaningful relationships.

Mia Mercado

Mia Mercado is a senior studying Psychology and Health in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the College of Education at the University of Houston. She currently serves as the Logistics Officer for Active Minds, an organization dedicated to ending the stigma towards mental health on college campuses. She is also involved on campus through Epic Movement, Honors Club Theater, and Psi Chi Honor Society. Mercado is also a research assistant at the University of Houston’s RESTORE Lab, which aims to study substance use disorders and comorbidity with other mental and physical health problems. Her current research interests are health disparities in underserved communities, substance treatment outcomes, and models of behavior change.

Within her past year as an ambassador, she has had countless experiences connecting with alumni, donors, and the University of Houston community. Above all, she hopes to make a meaningful impact on campus and for her fellow students. Mercado chose the University of Houston to continue her educational journey due to its esteemed reputation as a Tier One research institution and the promising opportunities it has in proximity with the surrounding city, especially through its diverse population and health innovation within the Medical Center. After graduating, she hopes to work in a career in health psychology and create evidence-based health interventions for populations at risk.

Morgan Turner

Morgan Turner is a third-year student at the University of Houston pursuing a double degree in Chemical Engineering and Finance through the Cullen College of Engineering, the C.T. Bauer College of Business, and the Honors College. A lifelong resident of the Greater Houston Area, she proudly calls Pearland, Texas her hometown. Turner currently serves as a member of the Marketing Project Group for the UH Ambassadors.

Turner is driven by a love of learning, problem solving, and interdisciplinary exploration. She is committed to building community and serves as a Resident Advisor on campus, where she finds fulfillment in supporting her fellow students. Outside of her coursework, she enjoys playing the saxophone, studying languages, and engaging with the fine arts.

Turner’s academic interests are guided by a passion for sustainability and ethics. She has participated in several university research programs, including HERE, the Pharis Fellowship, SURF, and Houston Scholars. She plans to complete her undergraduate research with a Senior Honors Thesis on product waste management and the circular economy, with attention to socioeconomic perspectives. She also maintains broader interests in public health and education.

After graduation, Turner aspires to continue her studies in graduate school. As a UH Ambassador, she is proud to represent a university that has supported her academically, professionally, and personally, and she is eager to share the story of its students and their impact.

Olivia Dickens

Olivia Dickens, currently a senior at the University of Houston, is pursuing a degree in Anthropology and Biology. With these degrees she wants to pursue a career in Forensic Anthropology with hopes of working for the federal government and Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency. She looks forward to eventually assisting in their recovery and identification operations of missing military personnel.

A born and bred Texan, Dickens values her close-knit family and chose to attend the University of Houston due to its proximity to her hometown of Sugar Land. She grew to love UH while working at the University Special Collections during which she learned of its storied history and integral impact on the city of Houston.

In addition to her scholarly pursuits, she currently holds the position of Director of Development for Frontier Fiesta, the longest running UH tradition going back to 1939. This role showcases her leadership abilities, organizational skills, and school spirit! She is an active student leader within the UH Catholic Student Organization and is the Professional Relations Chair for the Cougar Forensic Science Society. Additionally, during the Fall Dickens was honored to be names the University of Houston Homecoming Queen! Lastly,she will be interning with both the Houston Forensic Science Center and the San Antonio Naval Medical Research Unit. She is excited to support the efforts of Houston’s largest crime lab and the Department of Defense, respectively!

In her leisure time, she enjoys doing embroidery, crafting, and watching TV. You can find her attending numerous UH sporting events, on-campus socials, and hanging out with friends!

Owen Miller

Owen Miller is a senior majoring in Public Policy in the Hobby School of Public Affairs with a focus in Energy and the Environment. He is minoring in Military Leadership as a part of his path to commission in the United States Army as an officer. He grew up in the Austin area but chose to attend the University of Houston to become part of a greater, more diverse community. As an Advancement Ambassador, he hopes to bring pride to UH and act as a representative to the Houston Battalion Army ROTC.

Miller has received numerous honors in his time at UH including multiple scholarships, four semesters on the Dean’s List and an opportunity the to attend and graduate from Air Assault school. Miller has also held numerous leadership positions within Army ROTC, including Company Commander in the spring 2025 semester, and stepping up as Cadet Command Sergeant Major during the fall 2025 semester. In his leadership roles, he not only has led UH students, but serves as a pillar of leadership to students of neighboring institutions within the Houston area. He is passionate about duty, respect, and selfless service, some of the Army values. He sets an example to his peers by being a dedicated leader, competent in the knowledge and skills of an Army officer. He has a strong interest in pursuing public administration after his time in the Army. Miller enjoys studying government, economic, and environmental policy. He believes that proper environmental policies are key to protecting nature and wildlife, which he values greatly.

Apart from his work at school, he also enjoys playing guitar, outdoor activities, working on his family's ranch, and staying physically fit. He also enjoys attending UH sports events and representing the Houston Battalion and UH at events and engagements. Commissioning as an Infantry Officer, Miller hopes to challenge himself in the Army by attending Ranger and Airborne school. After his Army career, he hopes to return to Texas and work in government to help protect the nature he grew up around.

Pal Rabheru

Pal Gaurav Rabheru is a sophomore majoring in Biotechnology at the University of Houston, where she is also a member of the Honors College. Originally from India, she moved to the United States as an international student and has since been actively engaged in academic and leadership roles. She chose UH for its strong research opportunities, diverse community, and supportive environment, which have exceeded her expectations by providing enriching mentorship, hands-on learning experiences, and a welcoming network of peers and faculty. As a biotechnology major, she is driven by her passion for medical advancements and her goal of becoming a Physician Assistant.

Since enrolling at UH, Rabheru has earned several prestigious scholarships, including the Great Conversation Scholarship, Premila Hariprasad Vyas Educational Scholarship and the Dean’s List Award. She serves as a UH Ambassador, as well as a treasurer in the TeachHouston Student Society. She is also a member of the Honors Care program, where she actively contributes to community service and mentorship initiatives. In addition, she serves as a Recruitment Ambassador for the Cullen College of Engineering, supporting student outreach and engagement efforts. She works as a project officer at the teachHouston office and has also started working as a Cougar Tutor this fall.

She has experience in scientific research and STEM education, mentoring students in mathematics and assisting in teaching through the TeachHouston program.

Beyond academics, Rabheru enjoys creating social media content, particularly focusing on her experiences as an international student, and has served as a student ambassador for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) IDP. In her free time, she loves engaging in community service, acting, and exploring innovations in science and technology.

Payton Topete

Payton Topete is a junior at the Honors College and College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Houston, majoring in psychology and minoring in legal. She was born in Illinois but moved frequently as an Army ‘brat’ until her father retired in Houston. After falling in love with the city, she decided to attend the University of Houston to finally plant her roots in a long-term home she can be proud of.

She is proud to serve as a UH Ambassador to make a positive impact on campus and has enjoyed strengthening her networking skills and developing her impact as a leadership through her participation as an Ambassador.

In her free time, Topete enjoys shopping, watching WWE, and going to Bingo with her mom. Her husband is an enlisted active-duty member in the Air Force, so she spends a lot of time visiting him in New Mexico where he is stationed.

Saachi Aggarwal

Saachi Aggarwal is a junior at the University of Houston, double majoring in Human Resources and Entrepreneurship with a minor in Sales. Growing up in Houston, she was drawn to UH for its strong business community and the many opportunities to get involved on campus. Over the years, Aggarwal has found joy in connecting with people and creating memorable experiences, which led her to serve as the Events Chair for UH Ambassadors in the past and stay actively involved in traditions like UH Athletics & Fiesta. Beyond her campus involvement, she interned with the Sales Development team at PROS, worked with the Houston Rockets, and founded her own nonprofit all experiences that have deepened her love for building relationships and giving back to her community.

When she’s not on campus or working, you’ll most likely find her planning her next travel adventure, exploring new coffee shops around the city, or spending time with her dog, Hugo. She is someone who is always curious and ready to try new things. Saachi is excited to continue growing and love meeting new people.

Samantha Gonzalez

Samantha Gonzales (‘25) is an Entrepreneurship and Marketing major in the Honors College. She is engaged on campus through the Pre-Law Society, UH Young Life, and Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Samantha is a recipient of the Academic Excellence Scholarship and the Greece Abroad Learning Scholarship. On the pre-law track, she plans to attend law school after graduation and recently broadened her global perspective by studying abroad in Greece during the 2024–2025 academic year.

Savannah Bivens

Savannah Bivens is an undergraduate Philosophy major at the University of Houston, where she is a third-generation legacy student and proud Houston native. She has been deeply involved in local activist efforts and is a strong advocate for expanding public transportation in Houston. On the pre-law track, Bivens aspires to pursue a career in law focused on protecting the constitutional rights of vulnerable populations. On campus, she is an active member of several organizations, including Delta Zeta, Chess Club, Model UN, and Student Government. Savannah’s passion lies in empowering her community and encouraging others to create meaningful change.

Sawyer Groeschel

Sawyer Groeschel is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Finance, specializing in Real Estate. He grew up in Friendswood, Texas. Sawyer's connection to the University of Houston runs deep, as his father is an alumnus of the university. He chose the University of Houston because of the pedigree of Bauer College of Business and the increasing number of opportunities on campus. He is a member of the university's Honors Program. Additionally, he further pursues his passion in real estate through his membership in both the Private Equity in Real Estate Scholars (PERES) and the Undergraduate Real Estate Scholars (URES) programs.

In his free time, he exercises, follows sports, and cooks. Sawyer chose to be a UH Ambassador because of his desire to be the catalyst for change and improvement on campus.

Smeet Parekh

Smeet Parekh is an Honors student at the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston, pursuing a double major in Accounting and Finance. He has built experience through a finance rotational internship at Kinder Morgan, where he worked across FP&A and natural gas midstream operations, as well as through leadership roles in national case competitions with PwC and Deloitte. His academic journey also includes international study at the NEOMA Business School in France, broadening his perspective on global finance. Smeet is a Bauer in D.C. Fellow, which will take place Spring '26. Fluent in multiple languages and skilled in financial analysis tools, he brings a blend of technical expertise and cross-cultural adaptability. He plans to pursue a career in agri-finance, where he can apply his financial and commercial background to address the evolving challenges of global food systems and sustainable growth.

Vinesh Pillai

Vinesh Pillai is a Sophomore at the University of Houston, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a minor in Biology. Raised in Houston, Vinesh has always had a strong connection to both the city and the University, with many of his academic and service experiences rooted in the community. His volunteer roles at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital, the Houston Food Bank, and local organizations have strengthened his commitment to health and service. He has also been recognized for scholarships such as the Houston Livestock Show, the Rodeo Metropolitan Scholarship, and the UH Academic Excellence Scholarship.

Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, Pillai loves traveling, watching and playing sports, spending time with loved ones, trying various cuisines, and exploring different cultures.

Now as a UH Ambassador, Pillai is able to engage directly with the University and greater Houston community, which allows him to strengthen his leadership skills and sense of responsibility. This experience also prepares him for his future career in medicine and healthcare, as he continues to build meaningful connections and give back to the city that has shaped him.

Vivienne Luu

Vivienne Luu is a junior studying finance at the University of Houston C. T. Bauer College of Business. She is also a full-ride National Merit Scholar at the Honors College. Luu was raised in Katy, Texas, choosing UH because of its proximity to family, its diverse student body, and the tight-knit community in Bauer's notable Business Honors Program.

Luu previously served as a corporate partnerships intern at Share Our Strength, the company that runs the nationwide No Kid Hungry initiative. Over the summer of 2025, Luu worked as an investment banking intern at Cohen and Company Capital Markets in New York City. Luu loves getting involved with different organizations on campus. She serves as Vice President of UH's student-led undergraduate investment fund, Bayou Capital Group, and is eager to mentor incoming freshmen navigating the world of finance. She also works as a barista at UH’s coffee shop, Cougar Grounds. Luu is proud to be a UH Ambassador, fulfilling her passion for philanthropy and demonstrating her Cougar spirit!

Winnie Pham

Winnie Pham (‘26) is a Political Science major in the Honors College and a co-founder of the Houston Undergraduate Law Review, where she serves as Editor-in-Chief. She is also involved with the Bayou Capital Group Undergraduate Investment Fund and the Chess Club. Winnie is a recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, including the Academic Excellence Scholarship, Olive C. Riddell Scholarship, Richard Murray Scholarship, Jayne Sullivan Scholarship, Asian Pacific Islander Scholarship, Iowa Asian Alliance Scholarship, Elizabeth Rockwell Scholarship, National Service Award (AmeriCorps), Houston Alumni Organization Scholarship, and the Edith and Robert Zinn Scholarship. She further expanded her experience in public service as a legislative intern on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
